What to Expect During Your First Visit

Your first appointment will generally last one hour, some are longer due to the complexity of issues being covered. We will be discussing your health history, your struggles and frustrations regarding your health and nutrition issues, your goals and how we can be most helpful to you. Your dietitian will evaluate and assess how to approach your specific nutrition and health concerns. Together we will: identify how to best implement changes,  learn from any challenges or set-backs you encounter, and celebrate your successes! The process of change is a journey over a period of time which frequently resembles three steps forward and two steps back. Your success will be worth each moment of effort as you enjoy improved health and increased empowerment! Expect follow-up appointments, assignments to work on and reports and communication with your doctor and/or counselors.

Insurance Coverage

We try our hardest to work with every insurance company. We know medical nutrition therapy saves money in the long term for you and your insurance company. Preventive health care is a wise investment.
If you need financial assistance from your insurance company make sure you call the toll free number on the back of your insurance card to verify your benefits for medical nutrition therapy (MNT) because your insurance coverage is an agreement between you and your insurance company. Many insurance companies provide coverage for MNT, but it is different for each company and each policy.

Cancellation Policy

When we schedule an appointment with you, we have very gladly reserved a specific block of time just for you. We do require a 24 hour notice of cancellation. We do not provide appointment reminder calls as this is an opportunity for you to practice making your health care your top priority. We must receive at least 24 notification if you can not keep your appointment so we can reschedule your time slot with another patient. If we do not receive a 24 hour notice of cancellation unfortunately you will be charged for the time we reserved for you. This policy applies to your initial appointment and all follow-up appointments.

“Banister Nutrition has been a lifesaver for me! In the last two years I have lost over 70 lbs! I have had only one visit where I had not lost weight. They are very encouraging and the staff is very friendly. COST!?!? Banister has saved me more than enough due to less medication to pay for my visits. I encourage people to try them.”

Donald W. Hodde

“I love the help I am receiving from Banister Nutrition. It’s a journey of discovery and learning vs. a mission to restrict and lose weight. It’s not a chore, it’s an adventure. I’m recognizing this is a new way of being, a new way of life. It’s just so freeing, it’s fun!”

Mary Ann Sonntag

“The greatest thing for me from Banister Nutrition has been having someone trained break things down to the basics. They worked with me where I was and with my lifestyle until we found something that worked for me. Having that accountability, someone to hash out what has and has not been working, and to offer practical suggestions has been invaluable to me.”

Candi Barber

“I just had an appointment with my doctor. My doctor was really pleased with the improvements in all my lab values. My lipids and BP are down. My glucose is now in the normal range with no medication. Plus my weight is down 39 lbs. My doctors says I am now ‘diabetes free’ and I say ‘this is all thanks to you and your help.'”
